Cho Oyo, 8189mt
Cecilia Carreri tells us: "I set out on an expedition to Cho Oyu, an 8,000-metre-high mountain in Tibet, with Mario Dibona, Renzo Benedetti, Luca Campagna, Pietro Bonadonna and Fabio Pasini.Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, has been devastated by the Chinese occupation.
We reached the Chinese base camp (4,800 metres) and then continued to the advanced base camp (5,700 metres). For our baggage we used a train of yaks and a group of Tibetan porters.
Mario and Renzo reached the summit of Cho Oyu; I had to turn back, due to serious health problems caused by the altitude".
