Climbing Mount Kenya
Cecilia Carreri tells us: "From the Naro Moru River Lodge in the Mount Kenya National Park, we ventured into the Teleky Valley towards the granite massif of Mount Kenya itself, 5,199 metres high.We were completely alone. We pitched our tent at the Met Station, 3,050 metres above sea level, where we had to fight off the monkeys that came to steal our food, and then onward to Mackinder's Camp, at 4,200 metres, where our tent was crossed by the speedy Hyrax, a kind of large marmot that inhabits this area.
In the middle of the night, under a starry sky, we climbed towards the slopes of Mount Kenya, and as the dawn broke, we started on the Ice Window, a reentrant full of ice and snow alongside the famous Diamond Couloir, with a fantastic vista over the African desert.
Before leaving Kenya, we relaxed with a classic off-road safari trip".
