Marocco
Cecilia Carreri tells us: "I went on a ski touring trip to Morocco, on the snowy peaks of the High Atlas Mountains, with Piero Bosetti, president of Cortina mountain rescue, Renato Sotsass, AKA Pelizza, Mario Dibona, and Alessandro Caporali.Years later, Pelizza and Mario would climb K2 with a Scoiattoli di Cortina mountaineering club expedition.
Alessandro Caporali is a university professor of geodesics in Padua, and back in the day he took part in the Italian Reseach Council expedition to measure K2 and Mount Everest with GPS.
We arrived in Marrakech, and visited the famous Jemaa el-Fna square.
Then we moved on to Imlil, where we found our porters with their mules, ready to accompany us to the edge of the snows, and to the French CAF refuge, which was to be the starting point for our excursions.
We reached the peak of Jebel Toubkal, 4,167 metres high, with a view over the desert, followed by some fantastic skiing.
On our return journey, we crossed over the Tizi n’Test pass, 2,092 metres high, then Taroudant and Tafroute, and on to Agadir, on the Atlantic Ocean".
