Nepal
Cecilia Carreri tells us: "I decided to go to the Himalayas on my own; it was my first time.I discovered Kathmandu, the golden temples of Patan, the Thamel markets.
I met Ganesh Bahadur Neupane, who runs a mountaineering agency, Monte Rosa Treks & Expeditions Ltd., who found me some porters to go to Khumbu, the valley leading to Mount Everest.
We took a small Lumbini plane, and landed in Lukla (2,860 metres), in the middle of the Himalayas. I then spend days and days walking alone with my two sherpas, passing through Namche Bazar, Tengboche, Periche, Dingboche, at an altitude that was constantly between 3,000 and 4,000 metres; we reached Chukung, the same height as Mont Blanc, and then base camp at Island Peak (6,189 metres), where I pitched my North Face tent.
I was close to the south face of Lhotse, my tent standing between the Lhotse and Imja Glaciers.
I climbed up to 5,400 metres, then made my way back to Kathmandu".
